Statue of Frederick Law Olmsted in Park

Artist Louise Wiley created a bust of Frederick Law Olmsted, the famed landscape architect behind Beardsley Park, to honor his legacy. Unveiled in November 2021, the sculpture commemorates Olmsted’s upcoming 200th birthday and stands as a tribute to his significant influence on Bridgeport’s park system.

Louise Wiley is an artist and sculptor who studied at institutions such as Stony Brook College, Parsons School of Design, and The Lyme Academy of Fine Art. She has honed her skills through workshops in France, Italy, and the U.S., working primarily in watercolor, oil, acrylic, bronze, and terra-cotta. Her award-winning sculptures, capturing the natural beauty of life, are featured in private and public collections across several states and countries.
